Days of Wonder Chef, Bev Taos

Chef Bev Taos

I am Chef Bev. I am the mom of 5 year old twins who attended Days of Wonder for 3 years. I trained at the Natural Gourmet Institute in Manhattan because I wanted to learn how to make vegetables more interesting for myself! This came out of reading about health and the relationship of our health to the food that we eat. There is a ton of conflicting information out there about what constitutes ‘healthy food’ and this can become overwhelming. But what every expert, and every person CAN agree on is the ages old instruction to ‘eat your veggies’. And unfortunately, in today’s food environment of processed food, this has become harder to do.

I want to use my skills and creativity to help friends and families eat their veggies. So I make freshly prepared, whole food vegetarian meals. I am delighted about the opportunity Days of Wonder has provided to me to help preschoolers get more excited about fruits, veggies, beans and grains. I aim to keep the menus simple and fun, familiar, and yet constantly offering new possibilities. I’m also going to include as many organic products as possible.

I am sure these menus won’t always get eaten the first time they are offered. But I hope to build excitement about what Chef Bev is going to make for us today! It’s my belief that food should be an adventure, connecting us to the best bits of life, whilst building healthy bodies.
